Georgia’s Royal Government Important Changes: Why these changes went into effect? Gave colonists control over Bi-Cameral Legislature local laws, so they weren’t (2 House lawmaking upset with the govt. like they body of govt. ) were with the Trustees & Court System Voting Rights Est. 8 Parishes (County - local Govt. ) Voting rights were extended to prominent men within the GA colony. Allowed to select leaders to the legislature. As the colony grew, they created local govts. called parishes to oversee the different areas of the colony. Lasting Impact: - Giving the colonists control over the govt. gave them a taste for self-govt. - This led them to want to govern themselves without British control when the American Revolution broke out. - Fueled the want for independence from Great Britain.
