Who am I? Gabriel Cabrera Husband, Father of 2 B. A. , M. A. Ed. from Azusa Pacific University Credential in Elementary and single-subject History GATE Certification from CSU Fullerton 10 th year in the district (Roosevelt 3 rd, Del Mar History, Washington 4 th/5 th) Lead teacher this year

Effort Levels O- Outstanding § § Student is highly motivated, a positive role model, and demonstrates leadership qualities. Homework Students will typically have 30 -45 minutes on weeknights. It is mostly review homework. In addition, all 5 th graders are required to read 30 minutes daily. Students will also have some long-term projects that stretch out over a couple of weeks. Homework not completed at home or left at home will be completed at school during recess and recorded. Students may earn a “homework pass” and will be given one for their birthday. Please sign agenda after checking homework
Rewards/Incentives Individual- “Cabrera Bucks” to purchase items or privileges Group- points to get Cabrera Bucks Whole class- Extra activities Donations accepted for “Cabrera Market”

Cabrera, Inc. Groups are identified with a department Every student has a job within the department Students have responsibilities in the classroom according to their job and in turn receives a salary. Changes every trimester
Parent conferences November 2 -6 “Sign-Up Genius” online No school for students for November 6 only Minimum Day for the rest of the week. Other than conferences, communicate with me through phone, email, or appointment I prefer not to have “How is he/she doing” talks during school events (festivals, BBQs), but I understand if it is a timely concern
5 th Grade experience Language Arts- Grammar, sentence structure, word analysis, Narrative, Informational, Persuasive writing Math- New Adoption – My Math by Mc. Graw-Hill Multiplication and division (multiple digits and with fractions and decimals), algebra, simplifying and factoring fractions, geometry
5 th Grade Experience Social Studies States and capitals, Early American History, geography Science Physical science- matter, changes in matter Life science- Body systems, structure of organisms Earth science- Water, weather, solar system Outdoor Science School!! October 28 -30 2014 in Malibu, CA Payment due in September $225 total for this awesome experience
Chromebooks We have access to a class set of Google Chromebooks (HP) to use during the school day. Much of the work we do can be accessed through Google Drive on any computer. Teaching digital citizenship and the consequences of inappropriate online behavior.
