Capulet’s attitude here is unusual considering the historical context of the play. In your groups you’re each going to research one key area in relation to Shakespearean times. This will help us understand the historical context of the play and why Capulet’s decisions are so unusual. Group One/Group Five: Patriarchal society Group Two/Group Six: Social Class Group Three/Group Seven: Arranged Marriage Group Four/Group 8: Power (held by men)

In your groups, you need to research your area and create: A Power. Point

In your groups, you need to research your area and create: A Power. Point (2 -3 slides) that shares key information with the rest of the class. As a group, you will then present the information on your slides to the rest of the class. OR An i. Movie that also shares key information with the rest of the class. For example, you could film each other reading out the information – we will then watch these as a class. OR A presentation sharing key information with the rest of the class. You will be expected to present your findings using a presentation program, such as Power. Point. You will also plan a speech to go with your presentation, making sure everyone in the group has a part to say. You will only have the rest of this lesson and 45 minutes of tomorrow’s lesson – so use your time wisely! Make sure everyone in your group is doing something!
