Walk According To Your Calling: In Love Rom 12: 10…In honor preferring one another JFB, …The word rendered “prefer” means rather “to go before, ” “take the lead, ” that is, “show an example. ” VWS, The verb occurs only here. It means to go before as a guide. Honor is the honor due from each to all. Compare Phil 2: 3; 1 Pet 2: 17; 1 Pet 5: 5. Hence, leading the way in showing the honor that is due. Others render anticipating and excelling.

Walk According To Your Calling: In Love Rom 12: 10 ISV, Be devoted to each other with mutual affection. Excel at showing respect for each other. ASV, In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another; ESV, Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. JFB, In brotherly love be affectionate one to another; in [giving, or showing] honor, outdoing each other.
