Major Body of Water ● Mureş River: The Mures River is rising in the Giurgeu Range in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains , east-central Romania. It cuts between the Căliman and Gurghiu, ranges crosses the Transylvanian Basin southwestward, and then cuts across the Western Carpathians between the Poiana Ruscăi and the Bihor mountains and emerges onto the Tisa Plain to join the Tisa River at Szeged, Hun, after a course of about 450 miles (725 km).

Facts About Romania ● The name "Romania" comes from the Latin word "Romanus" which means "citizen of the Roman Empire. " ● Moldoveanu peak used to be called Cioaca Moldoveanul, the legend says the name derives from a man named Ion Moldoveanu or from a shepherd in Moldova who would have herded his sheep around here in the mid-19 th century. Four glacial cauldrons can be found under the peak, the Triangular Lake included.
