Roman Pot Detector Integration: Status & Outlook • RP Integration (with DT 2) – Prototyping alignment – Risks and Failures analysis Electrical stability … • First tests with the RP Hybrid • Production • Outlook • INTAS Toster Activity #1 G Ruggiero Totem Collaboration Meeting June 07
Alignment Studies Detector package alignment CMM- DT 2 Bondlab Manual positioning XYΘ stages Precision of the detector mounting<20µm Flex hybrid mockup
Alignment Studies Precise insertion of the detector package in the pot Position Stability in the Pot 1 st exercises with Plexiglas Pot Exercise with pot w/o window Development of insertion tools
Electrical Stability in Vacuum plant /DT 2 Glasslab Bulk current Detector’s edge at 100µm from gnd electrode Edge current
Electrical Stability in Vacuum Glow discharge Safe operation No risk of discharge between detector and thin window Safe operation below. 6 mbar (or above 10 mbar) or for Vbias <300 V Glow depending on the geometry Final test on the full detector assembly in the pot Glow discharge in vacuum

Detector current readings with the DCU Readings with the DCU vs Power Supply bulk current edge current
Production Mechanics: all pieces delivered and available for assembly. Hybrids: preseries produced (24 flex circuits). Lamination on the CE 07 will follow in the next days. Hybrid with chips by the end of June… Detectors: 1 st batch of 60 units produced cut and pre-testes (results available). 2 nd batch of 140 in production and ready by the end of July. 3 rd batch will start to be produced (first technological steps) before the August break in ELMA and will continue in September to be ready in November.
Outlook The integration of the RP Detector is progressing Next: • Accelerated lifetime tests with repeated thermal cycles (glues, laminations and mech. stability of the hybrid. ) • Radiation tests for the sensor and the full hybrid • Test Beam: phase 1> 1 fully equip. hybrid in June phase 2> 1 complete RP end of August (? ) • Strategy and logistics for the mass production (which will really start once a portable system to test the hybrid is ready)
