8 Hospital Accreditation standards for hospitals: • Applicable to hospitals having more than 50 beds. • Super-speciality centres (single/ multiple) Super Speciality centres are the centres which reflect requirement of DM/ MCh or equivalent qualified personnel. 9 SHCO Accreditation Small Health Care Organizations (SHCO) Those healthcare organizations having bed strength between 20 to 50 beds and are in possession of supportive and utility facilities that are appropriate and relevant to the services being provided by organization. QCI Essential Standard for Medical Testing Laboratories National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Health Care Providers
Needs and Objective • The number of Indian laboratories (currently estimated at 100, 000) is growing and the trend is expected to continue. • The reliability of test results from medical testing laboratories is essential. • Adherence to quality standards varies among India’s laboratories, and relatively few medical labs are currently capable of achieving accreditation to global ISO 15189 standards. • Therefore, a national minimal quality standard for medical laboratories and a rigorous education-based approach are warranted.
