What is autism? • 1 of 68 children in the world • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) • Main therapies: o Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) o Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Slide 2 of 17
Conceptual design • It has to be customizable • It has to play with the children Slide 3 of 17
Background description Slide 4 of 17
Objectives • To create a robot capable to interact with children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) • The robot has to have an affordable price • It has to be autonomous, it must move and it needs to be programmable Slide 5 of 17
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT Slide 6 of 17
Plastics choice Slide 7 of 17
Sensors • Ultrasounds sensor: Avoids colliding with objects. • Light sensor: Puts the robot in stand by mode. • On and off button: To turn off the Raspberry pi Slide 8 of 17
Motor driver and voltage regulator • DRV 8835 from Pololu Motor driver: o 2 DC brushed motors o 1. 5 to 11 V o 1. 5 A • S 7 V 7 F 5 from Pololu Voltage regulator: o High pass/ low pass 5 V regulator o Input voltage between 2. 7 and 11. 8 V Slide 9 of 17
Raspberry pi • • Open source Autonomous (not need to connect to a laptop) Integrated webcam and sound I/O ports GPIO ports Slide 10 of 17
Electronic design Raspberry Pi, Voltage Regulator and Motor driver brick Slide 11 of 17
Electronic design Sensors brick Slide 12 of 17
Prototype with 3 D printer Slide 13 of 17
Code • Once the distance has been calculated with the ultrasounds sensor: Slide 14 of 17
Code • After that, it will check if there is any interaction with the robot, and if its not, and there is not light, it will go to “sleep” Slide 15 of 17
Conclusion • • Help children with ASD to communicate Affordable price Produced with 3 D printing To be continued Slide 16 of 17
