Robert Mickelsen nasceu em Fort Belvoir, Virgínia, Estados Unidos, em 1951, e foi criado em Honolulu, Havaí. Mickelsen é um grande entusiasta da Arte em vidro, tendo se envolvido no aprendizado de uma série de técnicas singulares de artesanato o que o tornou mundialmente reconhecido pelo seu trabalho em vidro a fogo. A principal técnica utilizada por Mickelsen em suas obras é o lampwork, que consiste no manuseio de finos bastões de vidro - canas - no fogo. Aliado ao sopro, o artista consegue criar as mais diversas formas, construindo obras riquíssimas em detalhes. O networking - lenta moldagem de pequenos fragmentos de vidro - também é uma especialidade de Mickelsen e é responsável por garantir a leveza que enriquece os trabalhos do artesão. Sua obra artística delicada é toda em vidro, com uma variação incrível de cores e formas. O artista dá aulas nas escolas de Arte de maior envergadura nos Estados Unidos. Biography: Robert Mickelsen was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, United States, on 1951, and was brought up in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mickelsen is a great enthusiast of the Art glass, and involved himself in the learning of a series of novel craft techniques what made him recognized worldwide for his work in glass with fire. The main technique used for Mickelsen in his work is the lampwork, which consists in handling thin glass rods on fire. Allied to the breath, the artist is able to create the most diverse forms, by building works very rich in detail. The networking - slow molding of small fragments of glass - is also a speciality of Mickelsen, and is responsible for ensuring the lightness that enriches the work of the craftsman. His artistic and delicate work is made just allglass, with an incredible range of colors and shapes. Mikelsen give classes at the more renowned Art Schools of the United States.
