Purpose of Amendment w The Amendment seeks to Amend the Act in three respects; – Amend S 10 (1) (a) to allow D-G to designate any other senior official to attend Board Meetings on his behalf

Cont. . – Amend S 10 (9) of the Act to allow the Minister to fill an occasional vacancy on the RAF Board for the unexpired term served by the out going member

Cont. . – To reduce the membership of the Board from minimum of 11 to minimum of 8. We still maintain the maximum number at 12.

Current Difficulties w The D-G is an ex-officio member of the Board, without a provision for any other senior official to attend meetings in case of other pressing engagements

Cont. . w The Minimum number of Board members required is too high, standing at 11.

Cont. . w The current Act does not provide for a process of filing of an occasional vacancy in the Board by the Minister, w An attempt to correct this oversight
