Presentation of Candidates • This is the first part of the rite of confirmation. Naming & Anointing with Chrism Now: • As the candidate is called out, the sponsor places their right hand on the candidates shoulder before they are anointed with the Chrism. • Anointing highlights the name “Christian” which derives from the title messiah meaning “the anointed one”.
