WHAT IS RISK MANAGEMENT? n: The process of assessing risk and acting in such a manner, or prescribing policies and procedures, so as to avoid or minimize loss associated with such risk.

Policies – FIPG Alcohol & Drugs 1. Use of alcohol during sponsored event, or an event an observer would associate with the organization, must comply with law and comply with BYOB or Third Party Vendor guidelines. 2. No use of chapter funds to buy alcohol; no bulk/common source purchases (kegs)
Policies – FIPG Alcohol & Drugs 3. No open parties – unrestricted access by non-members where alcohol is present 4. No providing alcohol to minors 5. No illegal drugs or controlled substances

ALCOHOL a few numbers u Death: 1, 825 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die from alcohol -related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes (Hingson et al. , 2009). u Injury: 599, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 are unintentionally injured under the influence of alcohol (Hingson et al. , 2009). u Assault: 696, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 are assaulted by another student who has been drinking (Hingson et al. , 2009). u Sexual Abuse: 97, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 are victims of alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape (Hingson et al. , 2009). u Unsafe Sex: 400, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 had unprotected sex and more than 100, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 report having been too intoxicated to know if they consented to having sex (Hingson et al. , 2002). u Drunk Driving: 3, 360, 000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 drive under the influence of alcohol (Hingson et al. , 2009).
ALCOHOL Alcohol Abuse and Dependence: 31 percent of college students met criteria for a diagnosis of alcohol abuse and 6 percent for a diagnosis of alcohol dependence in the past 12 months, according to questionnairebased self-reports about their drinking (Knight et al. , 2002).
