GOALS IN PROGRESS ▪ ▪ Improve graduation rates Increase overall school rating Improve public perception of the high school Create more positive communication regarding RMHS ▪ Increase academic and extra-curricular offerings and programs to attract Ridgefield students to our high school
PROGRAMS AND OFFERINGS ▪ Cooperative education program added for students to pursue and participate in internship experiences. ▪ AP offerings have expanded to include computer science and chemistry, with AP Capstone planned for the 21/22 school year. ▪ Electives such as Writer’s Workshop and Cybersecurity have been added. ▪ Varsity football has returned. ▪ Clubs have been added including Diversity Club, Yoga Club, English Honor Society, DECA and GSA. ▪ CTE/Business Program has expanded and will graduate the first cohort of students in 2021. Program currently has 196 students enrolled, with 39 graduating with the A*S*K business certification this year. More information on the CTE Program to come….

A DEEPER LOOK AT OUR BUSINESS CTE PROGRAM ▪ ▪ An opportunity for students to explore the world of business through classroom instruction, job fairs, internship experiences, business speakers, interview experiences, and personal assessments. Program culminates with an assessment from the A*S*K Institute. A*S*K certification is a critical tool for serious students of business who wish to document their understanding of key business skills, their willingness to be accountable for their learning, and their interest in positioning for employment and promotion. http: //www. askinstitute. org/index. php? option=com_content&view=fr ontpage&Itemid=1
HOW DO STUDENTS PARTICIPATE? ▪ Students enroll in the classes over four years ▪ Within the program, students will be exposed to guest speakers and community based experiences related to business ▪ Students must enroll for all four years to receive the industry certification ▪ In order to receive certification, students must participate in a senior internship experience in business ▪ Students not enrolled in the program can take the courses as electives
EXPERIENCES THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM ● Guest speakers from various businesses to provide real life presentations regarding business and the application to career. Presentations included the travel industry, business start-ups, and law enforcement. ● College presentations related to opportunities for business majors from colleges such as NJIT and Stevens. ● Community based experiences to business related locations, such as Federal Reserve and Wall Street. ● DECA club which provides opportunities for students to participate in formal presentations and compete against other high schools at the state and national level. ● Creation of a self sustaining school store where the students determine sales, budgeting, and maintenance of the physical plant. ● Students participate in mock trials, business simulations, and will create a capstone project to be judged by experts in a “Shark Tank” Scenario.
