What is RIDDOR ? • Reporting of • Injuries • Diseases • Dangerous Occurrences • Regulations • 1995
Why should you report ? §It is a legal requirement to record accidents and illness at work. §The information enables the Health and Safety Executive and local authorities to identify where and how the risks posed, and to investigate serious accidents. § Then we can help and give advice on how to reduce injuries and disease in your workplace.
What do I need to know about RIDDOR? • If you are an employer, selfemployed or property management work, you have duties under the Regulations. • What must I do? • Not much! For most businesses, a reportable accident, dangerous occurrence or case of disease that should be recorded are relatively rare.
When will I have to act? Must record the following: • Deaths • Serious injuries • Injuries lasting more than three days • Diseases • Dangerous occurrences
Who should I tell? Should be informed about all the accidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to the Incident Contact Centre.
