Ribbit By Chauncey Halsey One day in Ghana
Ribbit! By Chauncey Halsey
• One day in Ghana, there was an African princess. She was pronounced to be the prettiest girl in all of West Africa. There was also this frog that no one seemed to care about.
• One day she was trapped in one of the boxes that people traded and she screamed loudly, “HELP!” but no one cared to help the frog. Luckily she was spotted by an intermediary and was thrown out of the box.
• The princess had her dress caught in a door and all she had to say was, “I’m stuck, ” and everyone in the kingdom, even people from other regions, ran to her rescue.
• The frog thought this was unfair, but was given a dose of reality by an old wise man’s words. “The whisper of a pretty girl can be heard farther than the roar of a lion. ”
• The frog wanted to be treated like the princess and decided to go see a wizard. The wizard told her that if she wanted to be treated the same then she would have to do something very devious. This was switching bodies with someone pretty and she picked the princess of course. A ritual was performed by the wizard and the frog was told that when she woke up her wish would be granted.
• The next day the spell was in effect. The frog was the pretty princess and princess was the frog. The rest of their life no one knew of the change. Now the princess was ignored and the frog received presidential treatment.
• Since no one heard the cries of the princess because she was the frog she started doing something that will always be remembered. This annoying sound “Ribbit!, ” was created by the princess stuck in the frogs body. To this day other frogs do this when they feel ignored.
