The Syllabus This qualification consists of 2 certificates. 1. The Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development 2. The Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance
The Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development • This theory-based qualification explains the scientific principles which underpin horticultural practices providing a route to employment in horticulture and a foundation for further learning • You will learn about the classification and naming of plants, proper management of soil, maintaining plant health and plant propagation • Examination date: Monday 8 th February 2021

The Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance • Master basic surveying and design principles. Learn how to choose the right ornamental and edible plants and how to use greenhouses, polytunnels and other protected environments • Exam date: Tuesday 22 nd June 2021

Format • Please note this qualification is theory –based and assessed by examinations. • Additional support will be available in college if required. • At least 8 hours home study will be required in addition to time spent in college. • Your holidays will be spent revising for examinations. • This is a big commitment
