Levels of the Award At RGS we are offering the following: Bronze Award: Year 9 Silver Award: Year 10 Gold Award: Starts on 16 th Birthday or after GCSEs & continue into Year 12 All participants have until their 25 th birthday to complete the award, but they do need to complete their award, and have it approved by the Dof. E, before progressing onto the next level Once started with Dof. E, participants can complete it at another centre: they just need to arrange to transfer their account

You achieve an Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections: n Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community. n Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities. n Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests. n Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad. Participation every week, averaging 1 hour per week. All activities must be unpaid and extra-curricular. List of the type of activities on ideas sheet provided.

Costs The total cost will be £ 250 (paid in two instalments of £ 130 and £ 120) and includes the following: • Dof. E Welcome Pack • Licence fee to Dof. E South East Regional Office • Training and Qualifying expeditions • Maps and navigational equipment • Access to trekking kit and camping equipment • Updating and replacing of equipment • Campsite, Instructor & Assessor fees • Supervision on expeditions by a qualified Mountain Leader and other experienced instructors • e. Dof. E account • School insurance • Certificate and badge upon successful completion The following are not included: • Food during the expedition weekends (this will be discussed, agreed and sourced by teams in advance) • Personal camping and trekking equipment (RGS has a small amount of kit that can be borrowed)

What Next? Read the Launch Letter and all the documents initially sent to you via School Comms (available on the school website) Decide on the activities for each section, complete and hand in the Combined Programme Planner or email it to Mrs Henry on sportsadmin@rgshw. com (Remember you can back date it to 1 st September if you have genuinely be doing an approved activity) Complete & return the Parent & Pupil Annual Agreement and available on the school website) Pay the first instalment of £ 130 by Parent.
