SUMMARY • The RFID door lock is a simple door lock that can be attached to any normal door. It unlocks when the presence of the RFID Tag is nearby and locks when it is not detected. There is also a LED that let the user know when the door is locked and unlocked. It provides the security of a normal door lock without the hassle of keys. An RFID system consists of two main components, a transponder or a tag which is located on the object that we want to be identified, and a transceiver or a reader. The RFID reader consist of a radio frequency module, a control unit and an antenna coil which generates high frequency electromagnetic field. On the other hand, the tag is usually a passive component, which consist of just an antenna and an electronic microchip, so when it gets near the electromagnetic field of the transceiver, due to induction, a voltage is generated in its antenna coil and this voltage serves as power for the microchip.
SUMMARY • Now as the tag is powered it can extract the transmitted message from the reader, and for sending message back to the reader, it uses a technique called load manipulation. Switching on and off a load at the antenna of the tag will affect the power consumption of the reader’s antenna which can be measured as voltage drop. This changes in the voltage will be captured as ones and zeros and that’s the way the data is transferred from the tag to the reader. • There’s also another way of data transfer between the reader and the tag, called backscattered coupling. In this case, the tag uses part of the received power for generating another electromagnetic field which will be picked up by the reader’s antenna.
HOW IT WORKS?
KEY FEATURES OF THE PROJECT KEY FEATURES : The combination of features that RFID technology provides is unique. The main features are a) Unique Identity b) Auto Identification c) Wireless connectivity, d) Ruggedness, e) Anti-collision data protocols
IMPACT • The impact of the RFID Based Security System project is numerous in our society. The impacts are given below : • Restrict and Permit access using RFID based smart cards on a card by card basis. • RFID Keycards only have to be placed close or within reasonable distance of a reader versus a swipe that may or may not register. • More secure than cards with the magnetic strip, as they are embedded with an anticlosing technology.
FUTURE PLAN • It depends upon how original one could be to enhance the use of this project. But for us this project is practical for future uses such as Smart can be interfaced with wireless technologies to make it completely portable in the near future. Payment of bills using mobile can be implemented. A low cost RFID scanner can be manufactured and used which can scan multiple tags (product) simultaneously for faster processing and lesser resources. Automatic scanning and availability of products can be introduced. Pay preparation feature will be latest trend in upcoming years due to the boost in the ecommerce industry. • In malls for generating bills without standing in a queue. • Gaming zone • Environmental problems to control and make nature friendly. • Uses in ATM machines.
