Changes to Course Assignments
CREDIT FOR COURSES TAKEN IN MIDDLE SCHOOL Students in our district often earn credit for math and foreign language in middle school (students at Hanes and Paisley may also earn credit for earth/environmental science). In order to earn credit, students must earn a “C” in the course and for Math I, must also be proficient on the state EOC exam. If your student does not earn a “C, ” and/or show proficiency on the state exam, please contact your student’s counselor over the summer via email so a course placement change can be processed. There are no EXCEPTIONS. If your student is struggling in a middle school course that is eligible for high school credit, please consider having the student take the course in high school again.
Changes to Course Assignments – When Should I NOT “choice” into a different course? • My student’s “friends” are in a different class. • My student does not “want” to take a foundational course. • My student does not “want” to take an honors course. • I heard that teacher “so and so” teaches course “so and so” and I want the other teacher.
