Mind Maps The theory behind mapping explains that making associations by connecting ideas helps you to memorise information easier and quicker. Research shows that creating visual aids, rather than simply reading material that is already provided leads to greater recall. Top Tips: Put the topic name in the middle of your page and use one ‘branch’ for each key point. If topics link together join them with a line and write how they relate. 1. Only write key words on the mind map. 2. Use bright colours 3. Draw pictures help you to memorise the information.

Give it a go! Earth is our home planet and the only one known to support life. It is the fifth-largest planet and is orbited by one moon. Our planet is the only one in the solar system to have water in its liquid form, which allows it to support life. 71% of Earth's surface is covered in water and the oceans help to keep the temperature cool enough for life to survive. It takes 24 hours for the Earth to rotate once - a day - and it takes 365 days for the Earth to orbit the Sun - a year. The surface of our planet is very young because it is always changing. The surface is made up of different sections called tectonic plates which move over time, re-shaping the Earth's surface. Even though the Earth is over 4 billion years old, it is expected to support life for another 500 million years. Tutor Group Challenge! Post it notes/ Flash Cards Post it notes are a good way of getting across information really quickly -You can condense your learning onto them -They can be reminders of the things you struggle with -They can be used to test yourself -You can use them as tabs where the answer to a question will be underneath them A fun thing to do is to stick them around the house. Every time you go there you will see this information e. g. on your wardrobe, on the fridge or even on the back of the toilet door!

Picture Coding Split an A 4 page in half lengthways. Then write what you would like to revise on the left hand side. On the right, make a code for each sentence using one key picture. Revise your text and then cover one side and try to say it using just the pictures as a prompt.
