They believe that by accepting Jesus, they can also be resurrected in some way. Therefore they have no need to fear death. 2. Jesus’ resurrection assures Christians that God will forgive their sins if they follow the teachings of Christianity. By doing so, they will become closer to God in this life and beyond. Christians believe that Jesus died to make it possible for people’s sins to be forgiven. • Jesus’ death on the cross took the punishments for the sins of the whole world so that God’s forgiveness is open to anyone. • Atonement removes the effects of sin and allows people to restore their relationship with God. • Grace: salvation is given by God through faith in Jesus. It is not earned or deserved but is a gift for the faithful. Law: salvation is gained by having faith in God and obeying God’s law e. g. 10 commandments. Spirit: Christians have to do good works and they believe that the Holy Spirit helps them understand what God wants from them and can help them resist doing wrong.
