Spelling Rules Spelling is important because some students struggle with this when they are writing their essay or even when they are reading and misspell a word or misread a word. Spelling is important to learn to improve your skill of learning to spell and read better. Punctuation Rules Punctuation is important because it helps make your writing easier to understand. If you are going to finish a sentence and the reader is reading your story and realize that the story doesn’t have punctuation and the reader is running out of air and need to get some air to continue to read your story and could lead your story to loses scores (how much punctuation is missing in this sentence!!!) �Example: The shopping trolley was loaded high with bottles of beer, fruit, vegetables, toilet rolls, cereals and cartons of milk.

Capitalization Rules The capitalization that is needed while writing an essay is the most important thing to do. When the reader is reading an essay and it doesn’t have capitalization, the writer will risk losing some points on the STAAR writing. So every time you write, go back and check for mistakes on your essay to correct them. �Examples: China, France �Japanese, English �Christianity, Buddhism
