Developing ‘The List’ Research is the Key! Work from a base of 6 to 8 colleges that have been thoroughly researched: 2 “Reach” schools – getting in will be difficult but you might have a special talent to offer and want to give it a shot. 2 -3 “Mid-Range” schools – you meet most of the published criterion based on the college website and Naviance. 2 -3 “Safety” schools – you exceed all of the published criterion. Remember: The only difference should be degree of difficulty in admission; you should be very comfortable with all aspects of all the schools.
