Key words l l l Revelation – God shows himself to believers. This is the only way anybody can really know anything about God Immanence – the idea that God is present in and involved with life on earth and the universe (quality of God) Transcendence – the idea that God is beyond and outside life on earth and the universe (quality of God)
What is Revelation? l l For a religious believer a revelation occurs when something about God, the way he wants us to behave, the meaning of life become clear. For theists, revelation is believed to come directly from God Or indirectly from God – such as an angel The majority of religions have been founded from revelations
How does God reveal himself? l l l l l A direct meeting – dream or vision Nature Worship Prayer Sacred writings People Miracles Conscience Belief l l General revelation God making himself known through ordinary, common human experiences
