Revelation 10: 1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: Revelation 10: 1

Mighty Angel To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, Ephesians 3: 10

These angels have names in the Apocrypha: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Uriel Raphael Raguel Michael, Sarakiel Grabirel Phanuel (Tobit 12: 15) "I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels which present the prayers of the saints, and which go in and out before the glory of the Holy One. " (Luke 1: 19) "I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God. "

Revelation 10: 2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, Revelation 10: 2

“He placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land” Some have asserted that this speaks of a universal message. This may be true, However the size of the angel may be shocking. The rabbis (in the Talmud) discussed an angel named Sandelfon, whose enormous height was the same as the distance of 500 miles taller than other angels (cf. Hagigah 13 b).

Revelation 10: 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. Revelation 10: 3

3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. 7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. 8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. Psalm 29: 3 -9

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. 30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. John 12: 28 -30

They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west. Hosea 11: 10

The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Joel 3: 16

Revelation 10: 4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. Revelation 10: 4

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 1 Corinthians 13: 9 -10

The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29: 29

Revelation 10: 5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, Revelation 10: 5

Revelation 10: 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: Revelation 10: 6

Revelation 10: 7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. Revelation 10: 7

1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Ephesians 3: 1 -6

Revelation 10: 8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. Revelation 10: 8

Revelation 10: 9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. Revelation 10: 9

Revelation 10: 10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. Revelation 10: 10

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15: 16

1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. 2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. 4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them Ezekiel 3: 1 -4

Revelation 10: 11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. Revelation 10: 11

Application: It is only after assimilating the book that John is able to “prophesy again. ” There is pain in change, and anguish in true obedience. God does not expect to convert the world through judgment. His plan is to save us through His grace. Yet His forthcoming judgment should cause us to listen and to think soberly and seriously. It should melt our pride, silence our excuses, and prepare our hearts to humbly receive His grace.

Application: This was good news and bad news. The good news was that God had a definite plan and was about to take action. The bad news was that God had a definite plan and was about to take action. Whether the news was ultimately good or bad for a particular individual would depend on that person’s relationship with God. We should fully digest what God is saying which is certainly better than taking a bingeand-purge approach to Scripture.

Application: You, too, must “prophesy again”—but only after the assimilation of His Word. Today, if you hear His voice (He is shouting!) harden not your hearts. . .
