HAZMAT incidents are not limited to dangerous goods, but include any actual or impending spill/fire/explosion etc involving hazardous materials which has potential to cause injury or damage to people, property or the environment. Approved Emergency Responders • Capability and scope of responder approval needs to match materials to be transported and locations involved • Specialist requirements need to be identified and addressed (skills / equipment / other materials - e. g. neutralising agents). This may involve liaison with customer. • Ongoing liaison required with changing business operations (type and quantity of materials carried and routes used) to ensure ongoing response capability and suitability. • Consider capability testing (exercises, ongoing discussions).
