The Process of the Respiratory System 1. Diaphragm brings air in and out of the lungs 2. Air enters lungs, diaphragm contracts 3. Travels down your ribs into the pelvic region, leaving a vacuum for air to fill the lungs. The air then fills in. This is the process of inhalation. 4. Air travels through the bronchi to air sacs called alveoli 5. Oxygen diffuses into blood stream 6. Blood travels to the heart 7. Gets pumped to the rest of the body
