The officer works to prevent crime, initiates projects, meets with members of the community to provide information and develops activities for youth and seniors.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESOURCE OFFICER Pays careful attention to the lifestyles of members of the community in order to understand their mentality. � Establishes a climate conducive to dialogue in order to identify the community’s prevention needs and to obtain the cooperation of community members. � Establishes and maintains harmonious relationships with community members as well as community organizations. �

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESOURCE OFFICER � Provides assistance to community members by responding to requests for information and for appropriate intervention. � According to the guidelines and priorities established by the Band Council, develops and maintains close relationships with community organizations, socio-economic groups and social workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESOURCE OFFICER � Participates in community activities, exhibitions and meetings. � Facilitates training sessions and conferences on crime and personal assault. � Acts as a mediator in resolving problems concerning violence, intimidation, bullying, gangs, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESOURCE OFFICER � Informs the public about the consequences of criminal acts and offenses to the Highway Safety Code. � Participates in training sessions and meetings with various community organizations. � Guides community members in the various services of the CSSS and helps them to know their rights.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE RESOURCE OFFICER � Knows the community, the police and the legal system in the region. � Helps community members understand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. � Goes around the community on foot or by bicycle with the aim of coming into contact with young people and preventing crime.

CONCLUSION � In terms of statistics, we observed a decrease in the number of incidences of mischief as well as a decrease in the severity of criminal acts committed. Although prevention is not quantifiable, if it results in the avoidance of a single suicide, or improves the quality of life of one individual, our work is a success.
