We must be aware that Satan is real. Luke 10: 17 -18 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name. ” 18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. ”

Satan is called the evil one because he maliciously seeks the destruction of souls. “The devil hates you and has a horrible plan for your life. ”

God has given us His word as our primary weapon in the war against Satan. Ephesians 6: 17 And take the …, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Hebrews 4: 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any twoedged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The effectiveness of even the sharpest sword depends upon the skill of the one wielding it.

Prayer unleashes the most powerful force in the universe. Ephesians 3: 21 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.

Mark 11: 23 -24 Have faith in God. 23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea, ' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. ”

V. There are times when we must retreat in the face of strong

God provides a way of escape. I Corinthians 10: 13 God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it

We have observed 5 ways : 1. Make a public commitment 2. Develop skill with God’s word 3. Prayer provides power for victory 4. Sin must be taken seriously 5. It is sometimes wise to flee.

You don’t have to stand against the devil alone. Everyone struggles. You are not unique. You’re not the worse sinner of all.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. I Corinthians 11: 26
