Use of Camp Upshur • MCB QUANTICO, Va. -- Formerly home to Officer Candidates School and The Basic School. • Camp Upshur is currently used by Active Duty Units, Reserve Units, ROTC’s, and other Do. D commodities.
Billeting and Heads
LOGISTICS SUPPORT Facilities • Quonset Huts • • 56 Rack Spaces per hut, will need to provide own linen, and pillows. females will have separate billeting than males. Boingo Wi. Fi available, Weapons – can be kept inside billeting with a firewatch, we also can offer an armory which will entail detailed paperwork and clearances if used. • Heads • • Will be issued along with billeting, will require daily cleaning Nothing in heads besides Toilet Paper!!!! • COCs • 3 Facilities, NMCI Capable, Phones provided, Flat screen TVs mounted on wall, desks with chairs, and maps
LOGISTICS SUPPORT Facilities • Classrooms • 2 Facilities, seating capacity for 200 PAX, A/V Capable, no internet connectivity • Field Mess Facility • Seating capacity for 216 PAX, running water, ability to keep hot chow hot, cold chow cold • Gym – duty will need to be posted in uniform of the day, co-use available. • SMP House – lounge and movies available upon request
Facilities Cont • • Gym Usage If you request usage of the camp gym on the TSR, you will need to maintain a duty inside while Marines are using it, this is for medical emergencies and or proper conduct. The gym will be cleaned prior to departure. MCX There is a MCX that will be open from 1000 -1400 Monday – Friday. If requesting extended hours or weekends, let us know in your future TSR’s, MCCS will decide if they can entertain extended hours. CHOW HALL If you no longer require the chow that your unit requested from mainside you will need to officially cancel that chow 72 HOURS prior, also a reminder if requiring chow, the unit will now need to provide VATS for transportation chow hall’s number is - 703 -432 -1515
Capabilities § O-course -- will need a safety vehicle and corpsman § VCCT, HEAT/MET, ISMT we can support if they are available day(s) of request follow on slides explain what these can do for training. § Land Navigation (basic and intermediate) -- will provide maps, answer binder, and laminated cards. § Unit needs to bring protractors, compasses, and map pens
VCCT (Virtual Combat Convoy Trainer) Capabilities • • • Scenario driven training Internal team communication Junior leader combat decision making skills Escalation of Force events (threat levels) Counter IED/ reaction to IED Team drills incorporating various terrain, light & weather conditions Close order maneuver Fire control measures Reaction to indirect fire Capacity • • • Each bay support 5 PAX Total 10 bays & 50 PAX Max 30 PAX in one convoy and 20 PAX in another
HEAT & MET (HMMWV & MRAP Egress Trainers) Capabilities • Up-armored vehicle familiarization at 180 o (lying on its roof) • Up-armored vehicle familiarization at 90 o (lying on its side) • Instills teamwork & presence of mind with and without injured personnel • Promotes how to remain calm during a roll-over incident and avoid further injury Training & Capacity • • • Scenarios typically run 10 mins HEAT: 4 seated positions MET: 10 seated positions
ISMT (Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer) Capabilities • Develop marksmanship proficiency on small arms weapons • • M 16 service rifle, M 9 service pistol, M 249 SAW, M 240, MK 19, and M 2 50 cal Module can incorporate call for fire in scenarios Replicate ranges Shoot/no shoot scenarios to challenge decision making skills Remedial training Train and sustain Marines without the use of range and ammunition resources Available Weapon Systems • M 9, Shotgun, M 16, M 4, M 203, M 249, M 240, MK 19, 50 cal, AT-4, SMAW

Financial • If your unit is planning on staying at Camp Upshur longer than 4 days, and will require contracted services such as laundry, fuel, or dumpster usage, your financial manager will need to contact Mr. Kenneth Ebron at 703 -432 -0469. or kenneth. ebron@usmc. mil • Your unit is ultimately responsible for training needs such as targets, required range gear, and administrative items such as paper for possible COC operations. ONLY drilling weekend Reserve units are supplied by the RSU, your unit will need to bring your own toilet paper and gear if you are not a Reserve Unit, this also includes units conducting AT. • For future use, RSU is no longer responsible for vehicles due to funding, your unit is responsible for leasing your own transportation
LOGISTICS SUPPORT Supply/Support Recommended to have a DSSC card for cleaning supplies and last minute purchases Common work order purchases if unit will stay a long duration: ü Fuel ü Roll Away Dumpsters ü Chow ü Porta Johns for 200+ Personnel – smaller units heads are available male and female
CAMP TAX • During durations of 4+ days or 150 PAX and above the camp requires a working party daily 0800 -0900 (5 Marines) to police call camp and tree line • If unable to provide we request a unit police call 20 min each day
Check In / Check out • A SNCO or ABOVE are the only individuals authorized to check in / out requested areas of usage. • You will need to conduct check in and check out between the hours of 0800 -1530 on weekdays, and 1000 -1530 on weekends. If you cannot make these times, consider sending an ADV party or leaving a RBE.
For Rifle / Pistol Ranges • RSO/OIC from your unit will need to contact Gy. Sgt Kirkessner. (Weapons Training Battalion) 60 days prior to the rifle range at: 717 -383 -2279. • Please ensure that you have your OIC/RSO hard copy certifications in hand at check in. • NO RANGE CO-USE WILL BE AUTHORIZED.
