Paragraph 1 • Introduction: • Attention-getting hook • Background Information • Claim with your two-point thesis It’s been a long school year, and students have learned a lot, but they just can’t wait! They’ve been counting the minutes until summer vacation. Some schools are considering getting rid of summer break and adopting a yearround calendar for students. Year-round schooling is not an appropriate schedule because it makes little or no impact on education and it is expensive.

It has no benefits to a child’s education, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the traditional school year. Let students be excited for a break, and let them enjoy their summer vacation. Consider writing letters to prominent members of the school board voicing opinions about how important it is to keep the current school schedule!
