Request for 2019 -2020 School Calendar Revision August 22, 2019 Workshop

We need more time…. • Both buildings will be handed back to the District next week • We need additional time before our faculty and staff as well as students return to: • Properly Clean and Prepare the Entire School up to the Upper Perkiomen Standards • Many areas in the 4 th & 5 th Grade Center remain untouched from all summer • Allow Technology time to ensure that all facets and programs are up and running and ready for faculty, staff and students to return • Participate in Trainings on New Equipment, Offices and Classroom Features • Prepare Appropriate Signs and Bulletin Boards for Student Arrival • No Current Certificate of Occupancy for Either Project • We want to set our faculty & staff and students up for a Successful 2019 -20

Administration Recommends: • Revision to the 2019 -20 School Calendar • First Three In-service Days • Thursday August 29, 2019 • Tuesday September 3, 2019 • Wednesday September 4, 2019 • First Student Day – Thursday September 5, 2019 • Other Adjustments: • January 31, 2020 and March 20, 2020 – convert to full student days • January 20, 2020 and February 17, 2020 – change to an in-service day (no students)

Draft Calendar Highlights • Last Day of the School Year – NO CHANGE • GRADUATION – NO CHANGE • TWO EMERGENCY DAYS – NO CHANGE • April 13, 2020 and April 9, 2020 • NO IMPACT TO SPRING BREAK!!

Additional Highlights • PREVIEW NIGHT for both 4 th & 5 th Grade Center and Middle School • Wednesday September 4, 2019 • 4: 30 pm – 7: 00 pm at both schools • Walk the Halls and Locate Your Homeroom!! • Provides 5 FULL DAYS for proper Cleaning and Set-up • On Thursday August 29, staff from 4 th – 8 th grade report to the High School for Opening Meetings and Professional Development • District will have at least 5 full days (August 26 th – Aug 30 th) • Possible additional time on Labor Day Weekend or Open for Faculty/Staff (voluntary)
