What is a reported speech? ? We usually tell other’s conversation to some others. Then we are reporting. This is called reported speech or indirect speech in English. Direct Speech Indirect/Reported Speech
Do you know ? ? ? 1. Use reporting verbs such as : say, tell, answer, explain, mention, announce, promise, reply, suggest and warn. The most common of these are ‘say’ and ‘tell’ My mother told me that she was ready for the party. Harry said to me that he was tired
2. Beware of ‘said’ and ‘told’. Never use ‘to’ with told. Eg: He told to me that he was ill. He told me that he was ill. Incorrect Correct ‘Told’ always require an indirect object. He told Me You Her Him Them Joel Sara
