REPORT WRITING A report is an account of events or examination of a problem for someone else’s consideration.

How to Write a Good Report • A report must be brief, to the point and systematic. • Remember to report an event in the order in which things have happened. • You must give it : a) a bold heading/title b) the name of the person writing it (with designation/post if required) c)place & date d) use the past tense of the verb or the passive voice • write the report in 3 or 4 paragraphs like this: Para 1: Brief introduction to the event that is being reported. Para 2 &3: Details of the incidents like what/ how/ when/ where it happened/ any special happening/ action/ mishap. Para 4: Concluding remarks/ action taken/ required.

Three of a family crushed by speeding truck by staff reporter New Delhi, 29 October (PTI): A 28 -year-old man and his two children, sleeping on a pavement, were crushed to death by speeding truck in North Delhi, Sabji Mandi area late on Friday night. The man’s wife suffered serious injuries and is in the hospital. The driver and helper of the truck are absconding. According to the local police, the man, identified as Chaman, worked as a hawker. On Friday night, he was sleeping on the pavement near the Sabji Mandi railway station with his two children- Karan, 5 and Arti, 7 - and his wife Geeta, 25 when the accident occurred. Local police officials said that truck (HR 38 A 9513) was being driven at high speed and the driver reportedly lost control. It reportedly scaled the pavement near the main road in front of the Sabji Mandi railway station and crushed the entire family. Chaman and the children died on the spot; a seriously injured Geeta was rushed to Hindu Rao Hospital. The truck driver and helper reportedly fled the accident site. The Sabji Mandi police have registered a case of causing death by rash and negligent driving against the driver and have impounded the truck.

A REPORT ON THE ANNUAL FUNCTION BY ABC CLASS XI The Annual Function of our school was a grand occasion. It was held on Sunday, the 16 th of November in the school grounds. The school and the auditorium in which the function was held were tastefully decorated. Shri XYZ , a freedom fighter and former Union Minister was the Chief Guest who presided over the function and gave away prizes to students who had distinguished themselves in academic sphere as well as in co-curricular activities. Earlier when the Chief Guest arrived at 2 pm he was garlanded by the school captain. The function started with a prayer of Goddess Saraswati. The principal introduced the Chief Guest to the students and others then he read out the report of the school. Thereafter the Chief Guest gave away the prizes and congratulated the prize winners. Then he made an inspiring speech and praised the cultural programmes presented by the students. At the end of the function the Principal thanked the Chief Guest, the parents, students and the other gentry of the city.
