How to Run A Meeting Using Parliamentary Procedure • • • Call to Order – The President should call the meeting to order. – This basically means getting everyone’s attention. Minutes - Secretary should read the minutes from the last meeting. – This refreshes everyone’s memory on what is going on. – Ask if anyone has any changes to make to them. Old Business – Did any thing come up at the last meeting that wasn’t taken care of? – If so, be sure that it is brought back up and fully discussed. New Business – If any one has a new topic for discussion, he/she should make a main motion. Adjournment – Someone should entertain a motion to adjourn – President declares the meeting adjourned until the next meeting.

Catalina Island Marine Institute Outdoor Science School “CIMI at Toyon Bay is a unique outdoor science school providing an exciting outdoor educational experience for students from public and private schools grades 4 -12. It is one of the three outdoor science schools on Catalina Island operated by the nonprofit corporation, Guided Discoveries. Our focus on hands-on experiential science, utilizing state of the art labs and equipment, increases science literacy and environmental stewardship. CIMI’s expert instructors guide students through Island terrestrial biology, marine biology labs, and field activities designed to stimulate minds, build character, develop social skills, and most importantly, create excitement about science. During our three and five day programs, students and teachers participate in a variety of hands-on labs and field activities. The Toyon Bay campus has many great program areas that are well maintained by our resident staff. “

SOME EXPECTATIONS AND RULES • You will participate in all activities • There will be swimming involved so make sure you will be ready for this. • You are expected to clean up after yourselves. • There are set times for everything including eating, set-up, & clean-up; you must be on time. • Be respectful and courteous to everyone • If you are told not do go somewhere or not to do something…don’t (you don’t want to see my dark side)
Water Conservation • The camp is low on water supply so…. – They are asking you to take only one shower per day or less. – Bring a water bottle with you and bring it when in the dining hall so you are not tossing any water away.
CIMI STORE AT CAMP • CMI Store – There is a store to buy t-shirts and sweatshirts – If interested bring money for this – Cash is only accepted at the CIMI Store
2019 Chaperones Cathy Culver- I have been married to my husband Jim for 12 years and we have one son. I have taught at Chandler High since 2000; before that I worked at Valley Recycling Inc. as a Recycling Coordinator for two years. Teaching is a passion of mine Christian Godoy- Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education-Chemistry from Arizona State Sylvia Grace- Earned a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering from New Mexico State University and Post Bac. in Secondary Science Education from Arizona State University. Former process engineer with IBM and Dell, Educational experience includes teaching Chemistry at all levels, Math and Engineering in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. I have been a Master teacher in Introduction to Engineering Design with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) since 2002 and brought PLTW to the state of Arizona in 2004. Jentry Yard- Earned a Bachelors degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in Biology. I currently hold my gifted endorsement and I am highly qualified in Biology. I have had the opportunity to teach and 7 th/8 th Grade Core and Gifted Science, Honors Biology, and AP Biology.
PERMISSION SLIPS AND MEDICAL FORMS Please complete and signed - if you have asthma you will be required to bring your inhaler or they will not let you snorkel (no exceptions) - if you have allergies that require an epi-pen you will need to have that with you at all times.
MEDICAL FORMS CONTINUED MEDICATION • All prescriptions medication that usually goes through the school nurse, must be given by an adult while on the field trip (unless epi-pen/inhaler). • TBD either before school-7 -730 or after school 2: 303 pm) with the accompanying form-medication will not be accepted from a student. • Medication must be in the original bottle with the proper label (student’s name, instructions etc. ) and placed in a plastic Ziploc bag. • Medication will be kept in a safe and secure location and students will initial form when medication is taken. • If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Jentry Yard @ Yard.
