Context: Week 4 W/B 22 nd June Week 5 W/B 29 th June Lesson 4 Crucifixion Lesson 5 Resurrection Week 6 W/B 6 th July Lesson 6 Worship Week 7 W/B 13 th July Lesson 7 Prayer Christianity is one of the biggest religions on the world. In Spring 1 we looked at Christianity and the story of Jesus through which we came across key beliefs and concepts. This work seeks to reinforce previous learning from Spring 1 and embed knowledge and understanding through application of various sources. 1

Complete the question task on slide 9 summarising Christian beliefs about the crucifixion. 5. Read the information sheet titled ‘The crucifixion. ’ On slide 16. Use the task instructions on slide 10 to annotate and explain what the main Christian beliefs are about the crucifixion. 6. Complete the quiz task on slide 11 and self assess slide 12 7. At the end, complete the PEEL paragraph on slide 13 which is your independent task. Once complete, use the teacher exemplar to self-assess your work on slide 14 8. For example when Jesus was questioned by Pontius Pilate he said that “I am the son of God. ” This was enough for Jesus to be executed. This is important to Christians because Christians believe that Jesus had to go through this test/ crucifixion to save mankind from sin. Therefore, this shows that Jesus was aware that he was going to be crucified and accepted his test from God. SLIDE 31 Exemplar The resurrection of Jesus began with the disciple Simon who wanted to bury Jesus he took the body from Pilate the Roman emperor and wrapped the body in white cloth and put myrrh which is a scented perfume. Jesus body was placed in the tomb however, when Mary Magdalene went to visit Jesus tomb she found that it was empty. At this point she was panicking and felt distressed she then ran to Peter and the other disciple to inform them. They all blamed the Jewish authorities. When they went they noticed it empty and were upset Mary stayed there weeping. A man had approached her whom she believed was the gardener when he approached closely she saw it was Jesus and she wept and said “How can this be”. Jesus replied I am the living and the dead.
