Relationship between radiation dose and chromosome aberration frequency
Relationship between radiation dose and chromosome aberration frequency – Calibration curves Piotr Knapp Piotr Wróblewski Laboratory of Radiation Biology Supervisors: Ekaterina Zaytseva, Polina Kutsalo, Marta Deperas-Kamińska
The fate of irradiated cell Gy After high dose Correct repair Necrotic death Healthy cell Incorrect repair No effect Somatic effect Cell with damaged DNA Unstable chromosomal aberrations Micronuclei Mitotic death Somatic effect Stable chromosomal Aberrations - Mutations Mutation path Cancer Carcinogenic effect Apoptotic death No effect In the germ cells Genetic effect Somatic effect
Aim of the project Creation of dose dependency calibration curve of chromosomal aberrations in human peripherial blood lymphocytes exposed to protons beam (LET≤ 100 ke. V/µm) performed at Phasotrone (LNP, JINR) Biological dosimetry - Allow to assess an accidental radiation dose on base of the level of changes in chromosome structure.
