REJOICE IN THE LORD REJOICING IN WORK
WE ARE MEANT TO REJOICE IN WORK Ecclesiastes 5: 19 -20 Philippians 2: 14 -15 Philippians 4: 4 - always
WHAT WORK? Your work means more than “your job” Physical work / job (Gen. 2: 15; Eph. 6: 5 -8; Col. 3: 22 -25… Titus 2: 5; I Tim. 5: 14) Spiritual work (Eph. 2: 10)
JUST BECAUSE YOU REJOICE IN WORK… DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN’T CHANGE JOBS I Cor. 7: 21
WHY IS IT SO HARD TO REJOICE IN WORK? People (bosses, coworkers, family) Work is never done Work is hard and tedious labor Deadlines / stress Solomon knew this too (Ecc. 2: 1623) but he still thought we should rejoice in work (Ecc. 2: 24 -26; 3: 1213; 5: 19 -20)
WHY REJOICE IN WORK? Work is a gift from God (Ecc. 5: 19 -20) Work is our purpose (Gen. 2: 15; Eph. 2: 10) Proper work with a proper attitude makes a difference Pleases God (Phil. 2: 13; I Pet. 2: 18 -20) Serves God (Eph. 6: 5 -8; Col. 3: 22 -25) Proves ourselves (Phil. 2: 14 -15; II Tim. 2: 15)
HOW CAN WE REJOICE IN WORK? Choose to Consider who you work for and what the ultimate outcome will be (I Cor. 15: 58; Mt. 6: 19 -20) Take time to appreciate what you accomplish. Did you do a good job? Did you help someone? Did you please God?
WHAT DOES JOYFUL WORK LOOK LIKE? DOES IT LOOK LIKE YOU WHEN YOU WORK?
