What is an ‘infinitive’? An infinitive form of a verb is the verb in its purest form (meaning without being conjugated or altered in any way). l All verbs in English that have the word “to” in front of the verb such as “to run”, “to jump”, “to eat” are in it’s infinitive form. l Verbs in Spanish that are in it’s infinitive end in either –Ar, -Er or –Ir. l The Ar, Er or Ir is the equivalent to the English word “to” in front of the verbs. l

Regular -Ar verbs are simply verbs that end in –AR l Examples: Abrazar, besar, comprar, arreglar l To conjugate these verbs, remove the –Ar and add the appropriate ending. l The ending has to match the person that is being discussed (1 st person, 2 nd person, etc…) l
