Define Work Process Schedule Apprenticeship programs can be customized to meet the needs of business and the skills of apprentices. Choose your design: • • • Time-based: apprentices complete a required number of hours in on-the-job training and related instruction Competency-based: apprentices progress at their own pace – they demonstrate competency in skills and knowledge through proficiency tests, but are not required to complete a specific number of hours. Hybrid approach: use minimum and maximum range of hours and the successful demonstration of identified and measured competencies. Click here to contact a consultant for assistance Back to Flowchart
Establish Wage Scale Apprentices receive increases in pay as their skills and knowledge increase. Start by establishing an entry wage and an end wage. Then build in progressive wage increases for the apprenticeship program as skills benchmarks are attained by the apprentices. Progressive wage increases help reward and motivate apprentices as they advance through their training Example based on hours completed Starting Rate* Hours Hourly Rate $13. 00 Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 1, 000 1, 000 $13. 75 $14. 50 $15. 25 $16. 00 $17. 00 $18. 00 End Rate** $19. 00 * Start rate must at least be minimum wage * End rate should be equal to or above Journeyworker wage Back to Flowchart Click here to contact a consultant for assistance
