REGIL: REgional Government Information Librarians
REGIL: REgional Government Information Librarians The Mission of this group is to coordinate and provide continuity to the activities deemed necessary by Regional Librarians.
Possible activities could include: • To plan the Regional portion of the Depository Library Council • To serve as a liaison between GPO and the Regional Library community • To provide content for the regional web page • Anything else the group decides
How we envision this • A coordinating group rather than a highly structured organization with bylaws, etc. • 5 volunteer members, with staggered 2 year terms • A coordinator elected by the group • Regional webmaster as an ex officio member
How we envision this • Ideally the group will be geographically diverse • There should also be representation among academics, public, state, and special libraries • If there are more volunteers than slots, the group will vote
Issues that we would like to bring to the table • Five year retention – reactions to Judy’s report, a response from Regional Librarians • Standards for relinquishing Depository Library status • The incentive document • Monetary support for Regional activities • Issues surrounding the report presented by Bruce James on Monday
What we need • Feedback • Is the name too flip, or perhaps offensive to some? Other suggestions? • If we are to expected to plan activities for the Fall DLC meeting, we need to know soon if this is what you guys want
