Reflective Writing • Reflective writing - a process of self questioning, analysis and evaluation of your learning • Includes both affective (emotional) and cognitive(thinking) responses • Is the language of attitude, emotion, evaluation • Reflective writing looks to the future and how you can use the knowledge learned in your professional life in health care practice. Reflective Process • Reflect - on the issue (Use first person) • Reason – what were the underlying causes – what does theory/evidence say about why this might have happened • Respond – how did you respond to the issue at the time or upon reflection • Relate – what did you learn from the issue, how does what you learned relate to theory/evidence • Reconstruct – how will your learning from this issue translate into safer, improved quality practice?
