The Recreation Ground has seen a number of improvements over the past 2 years Initial work started by securing the eroding Riverbank and providing a natural walkway with new planting at the riverbank edge. The adjacent riverbank ditch was cleared out then planted resulting in water flow in the ditch that had not been seen for a number of years. Three riverbank access points with steps and large side stones have been formed although some additional smaller stones are still required to complete the appearance. This will be completed during early 2018. Recently a bridge and two sets of stepping stones have been added to the water ditch for access and recreation. The enhanced Riverbank and ditch have also been complimented by part clearing the Copse area forming a central play and rest area. The Willow dome further adds play area to the Riverbank approach. The unused section of recreation ground between the Football pitches and riverbank has been seeded with local wild plants and walkways cut in the longer grass to proved an interesting approach and definition between the formal football area and the informal pay area around the Riverbank and Copse. Every attempt has been made to maintain a natural feel to this area whilst providing a developed structural facility.

Further developments in the Copse and Riverbank area are planned over 2018/2019 Decking is planned for the duck feeding area, with additional seating, tables, bins and riverbank life belts. To make the Recreation Ground look more inviting the old storage container has been removed from the area between the Memorial Hall boiler house and the Skateboard Ramp with its contents now located in the local shed. Goal storage has bee moved closer to the playing pitches from adjacent to the players entrance side of the Pavilion. This released the space for the relocation of the cricket screens and nets to be moved from the children's play area side of the pavilion. Thus releasing that area for further rest facility plans next to the children's play area during 2018/19. Decking and seating is under consideration for the front of the Pavilion and part of the released side section. The Cricket covers are currently located in an open position but again during 2018/19 it is planned that a screening low bush line with integral seating will be formed to improve the general appearance All the current improvements have been achieved with the valued assistance with additional fund raising support of the Playscape Group and the SSYI
