Visually inspect the recloser for damage. Look to be sure all of the jumpers are in good shape.
Remove the bypass fuse from the hanger and move it to the bypass cutout.
Close the bypass fuse.
Be sure the bypass is complete.
Open the recloser handle.
Be sure you listened and heard the internal operation.
Install the jumper insulated stand-off.
Remove the source side jumper and place it on the insulated stand-off.
Take the load side jumper down and place it on the system neutral.
Remove the source side jumper from the insulated stand-off and place it on the system neutral.
You can now disconnect the case ground and remove the recloser from the pole.
Install the new recloser and connect the case grounds first. Be sure the control handle is in the open position.
Move the source side jumper to the insulated stand-off.
Connect the load side jumper to the load side line.
Move the source side jumper to the source line.
Remove the insulated stand-off.
Close the recloser control handle.
Open the bypass fuse.
Remove the fuse door. Leaving it hanging open will cause it to fill with contaminants.
Place the bypass fuse back in it’s storage location with the open end down. This will prevent it from filling with contaminants.
The job is complete.
