TIMETABLE • We would like to begin by thanking you all for accessing the home learning pack whilst isolating at home. You should be very proud that you are following the government guidance and keeping the community safe. • Please begin by outlining with the family the agreed routine and timetable that you will attempt to follow. In school a routine and goal often helps to achieve a successful day. • The Power. Point will cover 5 days worth of learning. Please set up a timetable that suits your family and ensure you still communicate with the class teacher via the email on a daily basis about your progress. • Please stay physically and mentally fit by engaging in 10 minutes exercise daily. This can be something decided on by the whole family isolating. It is a good way to positively share time. • The lessons will be supported by the use of Oak Academy. There will be links available to follow in order to access the correct learning. Oak Academy has been chosen as it is highly supported by the Government and school. If you wish to supplement any of the learning and extend any knowledge please visit our school website (Kids Zone). • Please use the class email account to share your learning with to the teacher. MATHS FOR THE WEEK Monday 9 is the number of the week Explore the number 9 in different ways e. g. find objects to make a group of 9, look for the digit 9, one more and one less than 9, addition to 9, subtraction from 9, write 9. TOPIC ACTIVITIES The main focus is The Emperor's New Clothes. (see previous slide) Choose out of these activities: • Design and draw some new clothes for the Emperor. • Make or use some money and pretend to buy and sell some clothes to your family. • Make a castle /den and role play inside. Maybe make a banquet lunch fit for an Emperor. • Dress up and retell the story in your own words. • Investigate which materials make the best clothes. E. g. for warmth, sporting activities waterproof. • Or do any other creative activities of your choice.
SPELLING PRACTICE TWICE A WEEK Practice writing your rainbow spellings. (These are in your child’s reading journal. ) Choose any ways to practise your spellings e. g. : • Use coloured pens, paints, pencils • Write them using flour, foam, talcum powder on a baking tray. • In the garden you could use chalk or mud. • In the bath you could write in the bubbles. • You could be the teacher and teach a family member.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS • Use the website Letterjoin to practise your letters • Practise cutting using scissors • Play with playdough to strengthen your hands, have a go at dough disco. • Use tweezers or pegs to create an activity which practises the pincer grip. E. g. Using tweezers to put pasta or poms into a bottle or container • Threading/weaving using anything in your house. E. g. thread wool through a baking tray.
SMALL WORLD PLAY • Across the week use a variety of toys in your house to explore materials. Maybe freeze some objects in water and then play with the ice. Make a bird nest with paper and twigs or make some slime to play with. (corn flour and water) • Play a board game with members of your family and practise the different learning skills this would involve. E. g turn taking, number and language. • Create a small world set up for you to use to develop lots of different areas of learning.
DAILY PHYSICAL EXERCISE Please make sure that you are completing 5, 10 minute sessions of physical activity everyday. It is best to decide as a family and spend this time together having fun.
