Objectives • Increase advanced practitioners’ awareness and understanding of realworld data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) • Define the concept of the efficacy-effectiveness gap in oncology/hematology practice • Discuss emerging real-world data in hematology/oncology and real-world evidence data gaps • Understand the benefits and challenges posed by real-world data • Develop ways to apply real-world data to clinical practice 3
What Is Real-World Data? • Real-world data (RWD) is information collected during standard clinical care or billing that is synthesized and/or analyzed to create real-world evidence (RWE) • Data on the effects of health interventions (such as benefits, risks or resource use) that are not collected in the context of conventional randomized controlled trials (RCTs). • The data generated from RWD reflect a broader, more diverse patient population.
