Assignment Part A: Find examples of each: • Realistic sculpture, painting, plus one other medium representing 3 different centuries • Stylized artworks in 3 mediums, from at least 2 centuries • Abstracted artworks in 3 mediums Select images that inspire you. Artwork does not have to be from a museum but should NOT be amateurish in any way. (Deviant Art is not a good source. ) You’ll be using these as inspirations for the next project, so select pieces that speak to you. Save digitally for printing on Tuesday, October 17 th.

Assignment Part B: Using any of your example selections from Part A as a reference, create 3 stylized designs. Media: Digital, pencil, markers, paint, ink, cut paper, or mixed media. All 3 designs can be fit onto 1 piece of your Bristol board. Digital designs can be printed out for your portfolio. STYLIZED = simplified, exaggerated, often following a traditional pattern or norm. Does not look real, but is representational. May include unrealistic color, as in the stylized golden Oscar award statue. Logos, tribal and tattoo art are often stylized images.

Assignment Part C: Using any of your realistic or stylized example selections from Part A, create a dynamic abstract design with at least 3 colors and shapes. 8 x 10 to 11 x 14 Media: Digital, markers, paint, ink, cut paper. Digital work can be printed out for your portfolio. ABSTRACT = Non-representational, shapes, lines, color without a recognizable content element. Does not look like something, but may hint at something. Relies on design elements of color, texture, depth, space, and line to convey emotion. Design should move the eye, create interest and reference your inspirational piece in some way.
