I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10

I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10 2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. 3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10 5 not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. 9 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.

I Thessalonians 4: 1 -10 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,

It Pleases God

I Thessalonians 4: 1 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.

– “As a prisoner of the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. . . ” Eph 4: 1 – “Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. . . ” Phil 1: 27 – “And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. . . ” Col 1: 10

We are Called to It

– verse 3 “it is God’s will that you should be sanctified. . . ” – verse 7, “For God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life. . ”

II Corinthians 7: 1 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

I John 2: 15 -17 15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life— comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
