Virtual Training Package Overview Sexual harassment and sexual assault are contrary to Army values and a critical readiness issue. There is no room for sexual assault or sexual harassment in the U. S. Army. This training packet reasserts the importance of leaders and the chain of command in providing quality, relevant training and education to improve and sustain positive organizational climates that emphasize Army Values and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Leader engagement and Soldier Dialogue are critical to achieve the desired end state of all Ready First Personnel prepared to give relevant training and education. To accomplish this intent, this training package is divided into the following major components. Army Policy on Sexual Harassment Ø Unacceptable and will not be tolerated Ø Destroys teamwork and negatively affects combat readiness Ø Army leadership: • Must create an environment conducive for productivity and respect • Set the standard to Soldiers and Army Civilians to follow Ø A successful mission is achieved in an environment free of sexual harassment Ø Prevention is the responsibility of every Soldier and Army Civilian Reference: AR 600 -20 Ready First, Always Win. Army Policy on Sexual Harassment, (Continued) Army Soldiers Ø Policy applies on/off the installation - 24/7 Ø Complainants are encouraged to confront subject/offenders Ø Army policy does not require complainants of sexual harassment to confront the subject/offender Ø File formal complaints with the brigade level SARC or higher Ø Family members 18 and over, are eligible to file complaints with a SARC. Army Policy on Sexual Assault Ø Sexual assault is a criminal offense Ø Sexual assault degrades mission readiness Ø Every Soldier who is aware of a sexual assault should immediately (within 24 hours) report incidents Ø Sexual assault is punishable under laws: • Soldiers (UCMJ) • Army Civilians (Federal/State) Ø Those who commit sexual assault offenses will be held appropriately accountable Ø All victims of sexual assault will be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect Ø This policy applies to both on- and off-post, 24/7 Reference: AR 600 -20 Ready First, Always Win.
