The electromagnetic Spectrum Objectives ► To know the waves that are in the spectrum (Knowledge) ► To be able to explain the uses of the waves (comprehension) ► To survey the uses of em waves in different jobs (Synthesis, evaluation & HSW)

Present New Information A spectrum of transverse waves ► Can travel through vacuum ► Travel at 30000 m/ s in vacuum ► Many everyday uses ►

H/W to complete an EM spectrum Overview Picture ► It should include: Write it in your planner The wavelengths (roughly) ► The waves in the correct order ► Uses of the waves ► Dangers of the waves (you are going to find this out at home using the website below) ► Diagrams ► Let’s look at some examples: ► http: //www. darvill. clara. net/emag/index. htm

Construct – 15 minutes You’re now going to use multimedia science to find out about the electromagnetic spectrum - collect your core or challenge sheet

Mini Review: What did you learn? 5 minutes Discuss two of the following questions B/C grade How many em waves do you think you’ve used today? Give examples of them! C/D grade What does long wavelength mean? A grade Think about a career you might wish to pursue – which of the waves does it use? How do you think they’re used? Why do you think the wave is appropriate?

Apply to demonstrate You’re going to create and complete a survey on the uses of em waves in Y 10 everyday life!! You will need to write the questions you will ask, then collect the data, and then write a conclusion, summarising it Success Criteria By the end of the 40 minutes you will have an overview of how each of the waves are used by Y 10, and which are used most frequently. 15 mins to write 15 mins to collect data 10 mins to analyse & conclude
